One of the Greatest: Wayne Dyer!

One of the greatest inspirational and motivational thought leaders, speakers and writers of our time, Dr. Wayne Dyer, passed away last Saturday and I will be featuring some of his quotes on this blog.

I have been deeply inspired and enlightened by him and his teachings of love, forgiveness and growth for many years. I can remember being about 19 years old and venturing out one day after reading a passage from his book, Your Erroneous Zones. That section had something to do with being open and willing to the many possibilities that life can offer you. On that day, as I walked on Lake Michigan and thought about my life, I remember meeting a fly fisherman, who I ended up spending a little time with and he taught me a little about how to cast the rod and fly-fishing, in general. I have never fly-fished since that day but I let my guard down and was open to what turned into a wonderful learning experience and opportunity for me.

I ask you,
What can you open yourself up to on this day?

"What you think of me is none of my business."
~Wayne Dyer

I think this quote basically sums up that everybody else's noise, negativity and comments should be kept at bay and not disrupt or negate any part of our lives in any way ever! Your opinions of me, your thoughts of me and your negativity is really none of my business. Thank you Wayne Dyer for all you offered and gave to us! Your work lives on and through us!

Have You Been Duped?

UPCOMING SETTLEMENTS UPDATE 10/10/15:

Starkist Tuna: Claim form 11/20/15.

Starkist is settling for basically selling less tuna that what is ACTUALLY stated on the cans. If you purchased it from 2009-2014. Check here and see if you are owed some money:
http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/103952-starkist-tuna-class-action-settlement/

UPDATE 10/4/15:

Have you purchased Kashi Products, the all-natural brand? Then you may be owed some money if you purchased those items from 2008-2015 under the guise of thinking their products were "all-natural."

Find out more here:
http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/178585-kashi-all-natural-false-advertising-class-action-settlement/

Did Linked-In misuse your "add-connections" feature by e-mailing your contacts using your personal information? Double check here:
http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/178821-linkedin-add-connections-class-action-settlement/

UPDATE: 9/8/15:

The newest settlement is from Michael Kors Outlets. If you have shopped at any Michael Kors Outlet in 2013-2014, you may be entitled to some money back. Head over to topclassactions.com and find out more.

The premise of the suit is that the MSRP or Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is the actual price that the designer charges or recommends. In this case, the price that Michael Kors, would charge for a particular item and then, it shows the outlet price (hence, giving the allusion of how much you are saving).

MY 2 CENTS:

In all actuality, many designers have outlet stores and they design and manufacturer products specifically for the outlet stores that never appear with their high-end merchandise or in high-end stores. So when you shop outlets,  remember that you are buying the designer's "bargain" label and not the exclusive one.

I think every American should check periodically the Top Class Action (Lawsuit) site, at least periodically. http://topclassactions.com/

Why?

I find that we (as the American public) are often lied to.....

Many companies will state that their products are, "Made In America" when, indeed, they're not. Or they will say that a product is, "all-natural," when indeed, it is not.

Well, this is a problem, especially because many of us make our decisions to buy something or not, based on a label. Well, it's unfortunate that many labels cannot be trusted.

Mapachai*
I visited the site today and found out that there was a price-fixing scheme that affected fresh potatoes that were sold in Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin. If you are a consumer of potatoes and live in one of those states, you should check and see if this class action lawsuit pertains to you. I buy potatoes all the time, so it was relevant for me.

http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/60974-fresh-potatoes-antitrust-class-action-settlement/

There is also a suit against Starkist Tuna for basically selling less (tuna) than what they claim so that company has also decided to settle out of court.

http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/103952-starkist-tuna-class-action-settlement/

I wish that we could trust what are labels were saying and that companies were truthful. Now, I don't believe that ALL companies are fraudulent, I know there are many who do the right thing but unfortunately there are also many companies who will do anything make more money and turn more of a profit. It is because of these businesses that we have to be careful and call them out on their wrongdoing.

How about Earning and De-Cluttering at the Same Time?

foto76*
If you're anything like me, you have lots of old dvds hanging around the house. Here's a great site that you can use to make a little extra cash and clear some of the clutter out of the house.

In my home, we're in the process of streamlining and making our refuge a true representation of our family and what we love, so we're in the process of pruning. We have lots of old dvds and cds that we simply no longer need. I was really excited to find the site ( sellyourdvdsonline.com ) where I could sell our dvds and ship them to the company for free. Now, no one will get rich or make a million dollars but you will get peace of mind (from simplifying your life) and gain some extra cash for your efforts.

I can't reiterate enough how much I love the simplicity of this process!

1) Just enter your UPC's (found on the back of the cases). The discs should be in good condition and have its own case.

2) The site will let you know if they are buying a particular disc and how much they are willing to pay for it.

3) Reach a $5 minimum and you'll be on your way to earning and de-clutttering! They'll send you a prepaid shipping label.

4) You pack and send at your convenience. Now, that's easy!

I count this as a win-win! What about you?

This site will also buy blu-ray discs, game consoles and video games.

Need more info, check out the site's FAQ's here:

Time to Reflect: Who Are You Becoming?

“Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” John Wooden
Hinnamsaisuy*
Being in stressful situations can lead to a whole host of issues that can be exacerbated when you do not take the steps needed to alleviate that pain.
My thanks to many of you who commented on one of my last posts about having to take a step back from one of my work groups. The group was becoming stressful for me and I really did not like the environment or who I was becoming in the process of spending a lot of time with these people. I had to step back!
For me, life is a continuous, learning journey, full of highs, lows and in-betweens. Going through this current experience, I had to ask myself, “Who are you becoming?” When we spend large amounts of time with people (or things or ideas), we should wonder about who we are becoming in this process. For me, it’s important to grow, to learn, to be kinder, to be more compassionate. Am I moving toward that or away from that? If my answer is “away,” what can I do to change this situation or what can I do within myself (to either alter the way in which I negotiate in this situation or move away from it)?
What do you do? Do you take the time to reflect on your own journey?
“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” Greg Anderson

Why I Love Kiva!

Did you know that you could have a huge impact on alleviating global poverty by giving small micro-loans to people all over the planet? Well, I've been a member of Kiva for a couple of years and I still love it and it’s still going strong. This site promotes entrepreneurship and empowerment in some of the most rural, remote and impoverished places and spaces all over the globe. Occasionally, Kiva will open up and give a $25 credit or trial for those who would like to check out the site and see how everything works. This money or credit is given so that potential lenders can try out and learn more about Kiva, their work and the many individuals, communities, and families that are helped through this micro-lending platform.
Learn More about getting a free $25 to lend from the Kiva platform http://bit.ly/1TPDd8y
Kiva is an innovative site that I'm proud to be a part of because they are helping people to transform their lives. You can choose to help borrowers who are contributing to and strengthening their families and communities while becoming self-sufficient and independent. I participate with this site because one of my major life goals is to become a true philanthropist. Kiva helps me to give consistently on a global scale and watch how people with very little, earn money, create businesses, form alliances and grow their lives and expand their worlds.
Kiva has also added Zip Loans. Through the Zip program, you are able to lend $5 loans to more entrepreneurs (including ones in the US)  and assist in their business and fundraising efforts to launch their enterprises!

2 Sites You Need to Frequent if You Shop Online (2)

This post is part two of my series concerning the 2 sites you need to frequent (and use) if you are shopping online.

The first one (E-bates) is described and discussed here:
http://bit.ly/1DkHLfk

This site allows you to earn cash back (payable to PayPal) for things that you are (or may be) buying online anyway. It's a win-win. There's nothing to lose!

The second site that I use all of the time for Amazon GC's is Swagbucks.

Now, don't get me wrong, you can save up your swagbucks and get reimbursed for cash via paypal (which I used to do) but for me, on this site, I look for immediate gratification and because I can cash-out for Amazon gift certificates rather quickly, without much effort; I go for it and it makes me HAPPY!

Now, Swagbucks has many ways for you to earn on the site.

  • Daily polls (worth 1 buck daily)
  • NOSO (no cost, special offers, worth 2 bucks daily for clicking through)
  • Using the search engine (change over and use their search engine exclusively and earn bucks or just use the search engine regularly for random bucks)
  • Watch videos and earn (daily)
  • Sign up and play games (earn daily)
  • Check your Swagbucks e-mail and find things to read, view, do and act on (and earn daily)
  • Complete surveys (and earn daily)
  • Last but not least, SHOP and earn various amounts of swagbucks for tons of retailers and earn, earn and earn more and more swagbucks!!!!! (Once again, I think this strategy works best for things that you are already purchasing online!)

I have not touched on all of the ways that you can earn swagbucks that can lead to gift cards or cash because there there are just so many more ways including the free codes Swagbucks constantly gives you to help you build up your bank as well.

I have found this site to be a fun (and most importantly, EASY) way to earn and gain Amazon GCs (which is a huge bonus for me because I'm an avid Amazon and book-shopper).

If you haven't, joined this site all ready, I urge you to add it to your arsenal to enhance your experience online and to help you save some bucks! What's not to love about that?

You have nothing to lose, it's completely FREE to join, and you have everything to gain---think money and/or gift cards! http://bit.ly/swagme

Do yourself a favor and add this one to your life! Use it for yourself or for others (many people use it to reduce their holiday shopping costs).

You can do it and add a benefit to all of the time that you spend online!
